Program Description
Residency Program
We offer 6-15 week residencies in Bollywood, folk, and/or classical Indian dance. We take students on a deeper dive into the historical context and technical intricacies of the dance styles. Students have the opportunity to evaluate different dance styles and they have the opportunity to create their own choreography. All of our residencies culminate with a student performance complete with blocking and staging, bindis and coordinated costumes. We encourage schools to invite parents to the end of residency showcase and can also teach the parents some Bollywood & Bhangra moves if the schedule permits. Our dance residencies include an deeper emphasis on social studies, cultural, awareness, physical fitness, the use of patterns in rhythm and counting and team work since the students are performing together as a group.

Our work links to:
1) Social studies as we explore the diversity of cultures within India and the Indian diaspora
2) Social emotional learning
3) Developing skills and values including civility, respect, teamwork and self-discipline
4) Exploring identity and community
5) Cultivating self-confidence and respect of self and others
