Program Description
Join us as we create a scale model of the solar system right before your eyes using a simple classroom globe as our starting point. From a golf ball–sized Pluto to an eleven-foot-tall Jupiter, students will explore the vastness of space, discover how scale is calculated through division and multiplication, and gain a true sense of the size relationships between the planets, their moons, and our star, the Sun (which, in this model, would stand over 100 feet tall—too big for the gym!). The program can be adapted for all age levels.
