Plains Indian Tipi Assembly: From Buffalo Hunting to Today See a Plains Indian tipi and journey through the traditions of the Plains peoples—past and present. This dynamic, hands-on assembly features a traveling museum of authentic artifacts, including clothing, hunting tools, shields, and buffalo-hide items. Students engage with stories, songs, and teachings that highlight enduring values such as respect, community, sharing, and generosity—reinforcing themes from the “Character Counts” program.
More than a cultural experience, this program aligns with the New York State Social Studies Framework (grades 4 and 7) and NYS Arts Anchor Standard 11, connecting with Visual Arts Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions 2.3, 6.1, and 11.1. Appropriate for all grade levels, the program brings Native American history and values to life through immersive, curriculum-based learning.
Cost includes up to 3 assemblies per day.
