Program Description
Rachel's Challenge Program/Assembly
Rachel’s Challenge is an interactive school assembly and character education program inspired by the life and writings of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine High School tragedy on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion have sparked one of the most impactful school programs in the country.

Developed with Dr. Robert Marzano, Rachel’s Challenge is a Tier 1 intervention that measurably improves school climate, student mental health, bullying prevention, and student connections. The goal is to inspire and equip students and staff with tools to sustain a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.

Program Impact:
- More than 150 suicides and violent acts prevented annually.
- 9 known school shootings averted.
- Thousands of Friends of Rachel (FOR) Clubs established.

Digital On-Demand Materials
This six-week digital program includes six 10-minute video modules, teacher guides, and student workbooks. The content extends throughout the school year, offering daily tools, activities, reflection prompts, and discussion questions to deepen engagement. It complements our live presentation for a lasting impact.

Community Event
The Community Event shares Rachel’s story with students, parents, staff, and community members. Held in the evening, it mirrors the high school program in content and intensity, encouraging participants to reflect on their own lives through five key challenges:

1. Look for the Best in Others
2. Dream Big
3. Choose Positive Influences
4. Speak with Kindness
5. Start a Chain Reaction of Kindness

NOTE: Districts wishing to book this program must contact Arts in Education prior to booking.
