This is an online version of our in-school assembly program. Our Black History program is a multimedia survey of the American Civil Rights Movement from 1954 through 1968. Using still photos, video clips, age-appropriate language and live music, we relate the story through the voice of a grandmother reflecting on events that led to the election of an African-American President. The program celebrates the contributions of brave individuals who risked their lives to overcome a system of racial injustice, including Rosa Parks, Ruby Bridges and Martin Luther King. The audience is invited to sing along with Freedom Songs, including "We Shall Overcome."
