Program Description
Combining live performance and discussion with multi-media music, images and videos, we honor the native peoples of North and South America by exploring their traditional music and sounds. Students experience these ancient cultures through the sounds of the Eagle Bone Whistle, Deer Hoof Rattle, Wind Whistle, giant frame drums, bird whistles, ocarinas, and much more. They learn how these instruments are made from natural materials, and how they relate to the cultures’ myths and customs. They also learn the tradition of giving thanks to our planet Earth for all it provides us. With the virtual environment, students see close-up images of the instruments and post questions. And everyone gets to sing a traditional Native American wolf chant and to howl like a wolf! www.journeyswithsound.com
