Program Description
Did you know that you are related to a starfish? How do we know that? Comparative anatomy is a powerful and engaging tool used to detect relationship closeness between different organisms based on structure and development. Using our live Animal Ambassadors and preserved specimens, let’s take a fresh look at anatomy over time. This hands-on 1-hour program will travel back millions of years, climbing the phylogenetic tree as we compare the structure, function and evolution of our invertebrate animal ancestors through to the rise of vertebrate life including mammals like us.
