Guided by award winning storyteller/author Heather Forest, participants explore the art of storytelling in the classroom to support listening skills and literacy. Retelling multicultural folktales and investigating the voice, body and imagination as creative instruments of storytelling in the classroom, participants learn how to recall simple folktale plots, use the power of metaphor to make a point, create dramatic characters, and encourage students to expressively communicate in both oral storytelling and writing.
