If you’ve always dreamed of giving your students true value during AAPI Month, but you’ve only found a Disney movie, here’s your dream-come-true! Allow a Filipina-Spanish-American professor and life-long professional dancer, Miss Coco Flamenco, to get your kids dancing and giggling while learning a truly valuable lesson from a hidden part of history:
Sharing dance = Sharing hearts.
K-12 students leap from their seats to share Miss Coco Flamenco’s stage – they learn the exact dance steps that were shared long ago, during the 333 years when Spain colonized the Philippine islands. When Miss Coco Flamenco was in grade school, she danced professionally in a Philippine dance company; she began dancing Flamenco and classical Spanish dance professionally as an adult. Her electrifying teaching style and curriculum-building experience position her uniquely to teach this topic; students gain deep insight into how dance was the heartfelt key to creating productive bonds between two clashing cultures… bonds that continue to be strong and fruitful today.
Your students will DANCE in ways they may never have seen before! Get ready for the laughter, sharing, and pure joy that will overflow from their hearts into your classrooms and beyond!
