Children and teens are not always aware of the dangers and consequences involved with texting and the sharing of images with friends and others that they meet or communicate with online or on their smart devices. This program provides information about the laws pertaining to sexting and sharing images and discusses the potentially devastating long-term social and legal consequences. Participants will gain a better understanding of the digital trail and how to better protect themselves. Through the review and discussion of local cases, this program will focus on being mindful of content shared online. The open dialogue and conversation led by the educator will stress ways to stay safe online and how to avoid negative and damaging effects on children’s lives and futures. This interactive program will allow students to give their input on the chain of events that can lead to dangerous online and text related behaviors. The participants will also have the opportunity to explore safer habits for life in a digital world.
