Program Description
This interactive workshop will help students understand the Power of Language and how the words we use can bring people closer together or further divide us. The myth of “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me” will be fully explored. Students will discuss the small and large ways we often hurt one another, along with the lasting impact our words can have on others. Additionally, specific terms and phrases will be discussed highlighting why it is NEVER ok to use them. Students will also identify strategies to support one another through allyship when they witness words being used to hurt others. Finally, the importance of interrupting hate will be discussed along with the unique power students have to support one another in ways that has lifelong impact.
