Many of life’s greatest lessons can be learned through participation in high school athletics. This motivational message is designed for student-athletes. It highlights the lessons that can be learned and how they are transferrable to every part of one’s life. Student-athletes will be challenged to use their high school athletics experience as preparation for life beyond secondary education. Specifically discussed is the importance and power of: Setting high goals, working hard and having “GRIT,” analyzing one’s self, accepting criticism, having resilience, overcoming adversity, demonstrating accountability and understanding consequences, being a team player, and appreciating every moment of participation.
