This workshop will focus on leadership development and decision-making. Entirely interactive, it highlights the unique place student leaders can potentially occupy in a school community. Activities encourage students to reflect upon decisions they make and the consequences of them. A thorough discussion of one’s “value” when he/she is leading and making positive decisions, as opposed to following and making poor decisions, is an integral part of the discussion. The positive and negative impact of decisions on one’s self, his/her family, school, and community is emphasized. Participants are challenged to take responsibility for their own actions and better understand how to move from “bystander” to “upstander”.
