Program Description
This hands on workshop is perfect for beginner ceramics students who wish to gain the fundamental skills required to throw vessels on the wheel. Enjoy a thorough demonstration by master ceramicist Justin Mullady followed by a hands on workshop. Skills covered will include centering clay, opening and throwing vessels, raising the walls of a piece, and shaping and forming the piece. Instructor Ruth Lowenberg will show you all of her tricks and tips to help students gain a solid foundation on the wheel. Dress for an artful experience - studio clothes, tie hair back, and suitable shoes. This workshop will only cover throwing pieces - experience is best suited for students who can fire their pieces in a kiln at school. Students should bring boxes to bring home unfired work.

*For an in school experience, please be reminded that this workshop is best suited for schools that have wheels and students who can glaze and fire their pieces in a kiln at school. The Art League will only be responsible for providing reclaim clay for this workshop.
