Through an engaging and interactive presentation, students learn about old and new ways of Plains peoples. This unforgettable presentation includes a tipi, moving museum containing beadwork, quillwork, clothing, buffalo stomach cooking pot, tipi furniture, shields, hunting tools; storytelling, music and dance. Students are taken on a timeless journey through the buffalo hunt to using its parts for food, clothing and shelter to living in ecological balance with the buffalo. Immerses students not only in Native American cultures but from the NYS SS framework addresses grades 4 and 7 standards, yet is applicable to any grade interested in learning about Native Americans. Aligns with NYS Arts Anchor Standard 11 and specifically connects with Visual Arts Enduring Understanding and Essential Questions 2.3, 6.1 and 11.1. Each performance provides multiple workshops for one grade level.
