Program Description
This program acquaints the student with the Latin/Hispanic culture and the Spanish Language through the exciting art of Flamenco music & dance. The program focuses on the many diverse cultures that came together to produce the Hispanic culture and language Program also seeks to acquaint the student with how Flamenco music and dance allows for the expression of human feeling and emotions, and how they too can use dance and movement to communicate and express themselves.
Besides a presentation of Flamenco dances in traditional costuming using fans, castanets, Spanish shawls, hats, etc., the program includes explanation of the techniques of castanet playing, foot work and rhythmic hand clapping. with interactive audience participation throughout. The program culminates with students learning some Rumba on stage with with performers.
This program can be tailored to all student levels. Subsequent shows on same day are 1/2 price. Travel time over two hours to venue may necessitate 2 programs on the same day.
Period length is also flexible.
