Program Description

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
This workshop is an introduction to how our five senses work and function and the ways in which we use them in our everyday lives. Through hands-on experiments and activities students will have the opportunity to explore the importance of all five senses. This lesson provides an opportunity to develop scientific skills through inquiry based instructional methods.

RELATED SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS:
The content of this workshop is related to physiology, nerve and sensory receptors, sensory interpretation, smell, taste and the Mad Science “Tantalizing Taste” workshop.

NOTE: Mad Science Programs are fun explorations into science and technology, and they encourage informal learning through hands-on experience. All Mad Science workshops include a lot of fascinating equipment, supplies, and take-home materials which the children build themselves. The Mad Science mission is to spark the imagination and curiosity of children everywhere by providing them with fun, entertaining, and educational activities which instill a clear understanding of what science really is, and how it affects the world around them.
