Program Description
Professional development sessions, available for P-12 teachers, demonstrate how the arts can support NYS Learning standards and strengthen learning in social studies, language arts, art, and math curriculum. The primary goal for all PD programs is for teachers to gain understanding and experience in using works of art and artifacts to:
• Develop visual inquiry based strategies for the classroom
• Make interdisciplinary connections
• Hone students’ 21st century skills

In an atmosphere that is open to sharing ideas with peers and encourages using visual evidence to support ideas and opinions, participants will gain knowledge, new tools, and know-how from museum educators and curators. Activities include in-gallery conversations, discussion groups, and hands-on activities.

Each session can be tailored to meet the needs of the schools and faculty and staff.
