Program Description
SUMMARY:
In this class, students will be introduced to the science of Chemistry. They will be treated to interactive demonstrations, exciting, hands-on activities, an entertaining and educational discussions.

A BRIEF SYNOPSIS:
Students will examine both atoms and molecules, and will build their very own marshmallow model molecules. Through a hands-on approach, students will learn and observe the difference between physical and chemical changes, play alchemists by actually turning a nickel to a penny, and, to cap it all off, students will find out just how much fun polymers can be!

EDUCATIONAL VALUE:
This class introduces children to the building blocks of the universe! Children will learn the fundamentals of chemistry, from the atomic theory to the structure, dynamics, characteristics, and possible combinations of the simplest to the most complex molecules.

NOTE: Mad Science Programs are fun explorations into science and technology, and they encourage informal learning through hands-on experience. All Mad Science workshops include a lot of fascinating equipment, supplies, and take-home materials which the children build themselves. The Mad Science mission is to spark the imagination and curiosity of children everywhere by providing them with fun, entertaining, and educational activities which instill a clear understanding of what science really is, and how it affects the world around them.
