Program Description
Crayola Imagine Arts Academy presents "art with a purpose".

SUMMARY:
African American artist and activist Faith Ringgold created many powerful story quilts about her memories, her dreams, and the civil rights movement. In this class, kids learn about Faith Ringgold, her story quilts, and her activism to support her community. Children will create their own story quilt to share a memorable, positive moment from their lives.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE:
This class teaches children about artist Faith Ringgold and her story quilts. Children learn about the life of Faith Ringgold and how she changed the world. Children learn about how the artist uses story quilts to tell powerful stories, and then they design, draw, and create their own story quilts. A foam print technique allows them to create dreamy, colorful backgrounds and to add a creative look to their Ringgold-inspired masterpieces.
