Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids, Jr. is a dance-fitness program offering kid-friendly routines for children ages 4-17, based on original Zumba choreography. Zumba is a way for people of all ages to get moving, stay fit and be healthy while having fun moving to internationally based music from around the world! This program offers enticing and stimulating music with easy-to-follow moves which help children develop a healthy lifestyle. It allows them to incorporate fitness as a natural part of their lives by making it fun and exciting! Classes incorporate key childhood development elements such as leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, and cultural awareness.
In addition to teaching Zumba (for both adults and children), I work full time as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, so I have experience working with children of all abilities, with group sizes ranging from 10-200. I’ve seen children of all ages and abilities not only participate in my Zumba Kids/Kids Jr. class, but also finish the class smiling and asking for more. The Zumba Kids/Kids Jr. program offers a friendly, positive environment where children can celebrate themselves and their peers while having an extremely enjoyable and unforgettable experience. This program offers an introduction/history of Zumba, a breakdown of choreography and international rhythms with modifications as needed.
This program is complaint with NYS Board of Regents Framework on Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in New York’s Schools. Engagement in this program by students of all backgrounds and abilities is not only supported, but strongly encouraged.
Throughout the COVID19 pandemic, I have been teaching Zumba to both adults and children Zoom. This can be done for single classrooms, whole grades or entire schools. I am happy to adapt the program to meet the needs of your school.
