Program Description
Through an exciting experiential approach, students learn about the old and new ways of the Plains peoples. This unforgettable presentation includes a tipi and moving museum of artifacts. Students interact with stories, songs and teachings that celebrate key themes of respect, community, sharing and generosity; complementing the "Character Counts" program. While this memorable program allows students to delve firsthand into Native American cultures, it also immerses students in Social Studies Practices from the NYS SS Framework, addressing grades 4 and 7 standards, yet is applicable to any grade interested in learning about Native Americans. Aligns with NYS Arts Anchor Standard 11 and specifically connects with Visual Arts Enduring Understanding and Essential Questions 2.3, 6.1, and 11.1. The presentation cost includes up to 3 assemblies.
