Program Description
Geography and Earth Science for Grades K-8
The Earth Balloon™ is a series of photographs shot from our satellites on cloud free days of our world. It has been used extensively across the United States to educate students about geographic as well as environmental issues.

This 22-foot diameter by 19-foot high globe is constructed from 24 panels of fire resistant dacron material. Each panel represents one of our time zones which make up the 24 hours of each day.

This all-day format features nine (9) half hour assemblies in which thirty-five (35) to forty-five (45) students (depending on grade level) and one teacher will have a presentation both outside as well as inside the dome. They will see and better understand continents, oceans, mountains, rivers, time zones, latitude, longitude, geology and plate tectonics. Even major cities in comparison to the total earth will be recognized. These topics are presented to each class at the appropriate grade level.

Although the visit to the Earth Dome has to be brief, seeing and understanding the Earth as it appears from space, as opposed to painted globes or drawings, is an experience not soon forgotten. The impact on students and teachers will be with them for a lifetime because they will have a mental image of the REAL Earth.
