Would you recommend this program to other school districts?
No
I am not in favor of the practice of subbing out for the performances or the rehearsals. I do not believe we were informed of the number of times that a sub would be "Sub-contracted". Part of the reason that this service is of value is because it is understood that all of the players have been vetted by "Side by Side", however- the players told us that they were informed "If you can't make a date- it is up to you to fill your spot with a sub." Are these subs vetted? Are they finger-printed? Are they even prepared/ well- rehearsed? Why am I paying a player to come to four rehearsals when a sub is going to play 2/3 of the performances? I thought I was clear with Brad that I did not want any subs coming in for performances, and yet there were two subs in for two shows. I am not okay with this.
Suggestions to artists for improvement:
Be clear with the booking agent: "No subs for performances". And only vetted, finger-printed subs- arranged through "Side By Side". Otherwise, the service is of no value.
Please include any additional comments you care to make.
